ABOUT
Larissa Neslo, born in Curaçao in 1970, is a visual artist. She usually works figuratively and uses different media such as paint, ink, paper, photography, video and 3D objects.
After her studies at ArtEZ,
University of the Arts in Arnhem, direction fashion design, Larissa has worked as a freelancer in fashion,
graphic design and web design. Designed websites
for companies and foundations, such as Wijnand Stomp, Toer van Schayk and
Het Muziektheater Amsterdam.
Since 2015 Larissa started working as a visual artist, in which she is characterised by her curiosity about the connection between art and science, culture then and now, (fairytale) stories and reality, individual and society. Beside her own art, she promotes art in general.
As initiator of ART WALK Haarlem
and part of the Kunstlijn Haarlem team since 2019. I maintain social media (Instagram: @kunstlijnhaarlem) with exhibitions, studio visits (https://www.kunstlijnhaarlem.nl/category/uitgelicht/) and films.
During corona Larissa started making art videos using Instagram as her exhibition space. “I felt the need to make small films with myself as a figure or myself painted life-size on paper. I visualised the ideas in my head in pencil, ink and paint on paper. I processed this work 3-dimensional in photos. I edited the photos and turned them into videos. Hanging over a stack of books, on the wall or lying on the floor. Showing the 3D world flat on a screen through my eye, the eye of my camera. By working from the perspective of the maker, I saw myself as reality, but at the same time I also experienced that it is magical that I live, that I experience.”
